Liverpool parade crash accused now facing 31 charges

THE ex-Royal Marine Commando accused of deliberately driving into crowds of Liverpool fans wept in front of a court yesterday — as it emerged he is now facing 31 charges.

Paul Doyle, 53, sobbed “Yes I am” when asked to confirm his name during the scheduled plea hearing.

It is alleged he steered his car into crowds of people who had gathered to watch Liverpool FC’s Premier League victory parade on the evening of May 26, this year.

The married father-of-three had been facing seven charges, which included dangerous driving and wounding with intent.

But yesterday another 24 had been added to his charge sheet.

The plea hearing was adjourned after Doyle’s barrister, Simon Ckoska KC, revealed the defence team had only just received witness statements from the prosecution and their client had not had time to read them.
