LYNDON JAMES starred with bat and ball as Nottinghamshire nudged into a commanding position at the end of the second day of their de facto County Championship title decider against Surrey at The Oval.

The hosts resumed on 43-+1in response to Notts’ first-innings total of 231 but three wickets apiece for Josh Tongue and James restricted them to 173.
