Family businesses 'tearing up long-term plans to invest'

THE inheritance tax raid on farmers and other family businesses will risk hundreds of thousands of jobs and inflict a £15billion hit on the economy, research warns.

Changes announced at the autumn Budget will affect every sector and all regions of Britain according to Family Business UK.

Its analysis found the Government’s overhaul could lead to 208,500 job losses by the end of this parliament and £14.86billion less revenue.

Tory Shadow Chancellor Mel Stride blasted that it should be a “wake-up call” to Chancellor Rachel Reeves. He added: “Labour’s raid on family businesses risks hollowing out the backbone of our economy.
