Boss could face Killie on first day

DEREK MCINNES is edging closer to accepting the Hearts job and could face current club Kilmarnock in his first game in charge.

It is understood McInnes was first identified by Jamestown Analytics — the analytics firm owned by Brighton supremo and proposed Jambos investor Tony Bloom as the best candidate as far back as October when Steven Naismith was axed.

But rather than shell out a compensation package to Killie, the Tynecastle regime opted to appoint Neil Critchley.

The Englishman was fired a fortnight ago after failing to secure a top-six finish in the Premiership.
