Music fans mass on site as tent city set to host 200,000

- By Hannah Roberts

Glastonbury is GO

THE gates to Glastonbury Festival opened yesterday to cheers from revellers who had queued overnight for the five-day live music spectacular.

Organiser Emily Eavis and her father, co-founder Sir Michael Eavis, could be seen counting down and cheering as the festival officially opened while a brass band played.

Campers arriving at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset, can expect a mix of sunshine and rain this weekend.

But with more than 200,000 people expected to descend on the fields, ticket-holders are advised to prepare for mainly warm weather.

Headliners include Rod Stewart, rock/pop band The 1975, veteran Neil Young and his band the Chrome Hearts and singer Olivia Rodrigo.

Charged

Ms Eavis, 45, told BBC Radio 6 that opening the gates is "one of my favourite moments of the whole weekend".
