Girls living in fear of going out, shows Scots survey

ALMOST half the girls in Scotland do not feel safe being outside alone, a shocking survey has revealed.

More than a quarter of respondents to a new survey even spoke of changing where they socialise to avoid problems.

It follows research for a manifesto entitled "Scotland: For girls, By girls" which aims to improve safety for girls and young women in Scotland.

Organisers are calling on the the next Scottish Government to work with local authorities to ensure public transport is safe, reliable and frequent to keep girls safe.
