Former Salmond aide lays into Sturgeon’s memoirs

NICOLA STURGEON has been shredded by a furious former aide of Alex Salmond who has disputed a number of stories disparaging his character in her book Frankly.

Geoff Aberdein barely kept his cool as he ripped into the former First Minister yesterday. Sturgeon has already upset Moira Salmond with some of the claims made about her husband.

Mr Aberdein described the claims as “falsehoods at worst, fabrications at best”. He focused on three of the biggest accusations against Mr Salmond — that he tipped off the Daily Record about sexual misconduct allegations, didn’t read the independence white paper and was against gay marriage.

All were bombshell claims made for the first time by Ms Sturgeon, with her former mentor, and then enemy, unable to defend himself.

Mr Salmond’s ex-adviser criticised this as well, telling Holyrood Sources: “I was brought up that you didn’t speak ill of the dead.

“But if you're going to speak ill of the dead, at least make your claims accurate.”
