Former Dons striker Jay ran plot to smuggle pot worth £600k into the UK

A FORMER Aberdeen FC striker has admitted organising the importation of cannabis worth £600,000 into the UK.

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, who began his career at Arsenal, acted as the intermediary between producers in Thailand and gangs in the UK.

The 34-year-old was detained following an operation organised by the National Crime Agency.

At the time of his arrest last September, he was playing for Greenock Morton.

Shortly after the news broke, the Scottish Championship side terminated Emmanuel-Thomas's contract. The ex-England youth star recruited two women to travel to the Far East and collect the drugs before returning to the UK via Dubai.

One of them was Emmanuel-Thomas' girlfriend, Yasmin Piotrowska.
