NIGEL Farage has vowed to raise £350billion by axing net zero policies, spending on asylum seekers and diversity initiatives once Reform UK is in government.

- Jonathan Walker

The party leader announced Reform “really are now the party of working people”, adding the package of measures would allow taxes to be cut and benefits to increase.

Reform’s plans would fund the reinstatement of winter fuel payments for all pensioners, the scrapping of the two-child benefit cap and the funding of a new marriage tax allowance, cutting bills for many married couples, he said.

Mr Farage also reiterated Reform’s intention to increase the income tax threshold to £20,000 which could allow many workers to take home an extra £1,400 a year.

Stressing his commitment to supporting families, Mr Farage said his package “makes having children just a little bit easier” for couples worried about the parenting costs.

However he did not commit to maintaining the pension triple lock, which ensures state pensions rise with whichever is the highest: 2.5%, inflation or earnings growth.

As he made his announcement yesterday, the buoyant Reform leader was flanked by Sarah Pochin, the party’s new MP for Runcorn and Helsby, as well as Reform mayors also elected on May 1 and the leaders of Reform-led councils.

Mr Farage said their success showed a vote for Reform in the next general election would not be a vote “wasted”.
