ENGLAND RUN RIOT IN SERBIA

September 10, 2025

FINALLY there was a glimpse of Thomas Tuchel’s England in full flow — and it was enough to get their fans dreaming again.

- By John Cross in Belgrade

England rose to the occasion in the Rajko Mitic Stadium with a statement victory over Serbia that as good as books their place in next summer’s World Cup.

It was also about the manner in which they got the job done — disciplined, clinical and hugely impressive in what is usually a difficult, intimidating place.

But the visitors turned it into a procession as they ran riot, while Serbia’s captain, Nottingham Forest defender Nikola Milenkovic, was sent off after 72 minutes, It was already 3-0 then.

And just days after Tuchel promised to go route one and place more emphasis on set-pieces, even that worked a treat as Declan Rice did for England what he does for Arsenal with two brilliant deliveries and assists in Belgrade.
