Doddie's match ball delivery is Murrayfield's greatest moment

Weir's match ball delivery for the game against New Zealand has been voted the greatest moment in the stadium's 100-year history in a nationwide poll.

The former Scotland rugby union star walked on to the pitch on November 18, 2017, wearing his trademark tartan suit flanked by sons Hamish, Angus and Ben.

His appearance came just months after the Scotland and British & Irish Lions forward revealed his diagnosis with motor neurone disease (MND).

He died in November 26, 2022, aged 52, after living with the condition for more than six years.

The match ball walk was chosen as Scottish Gas Murrayfield's most defining moment, taking 54.5% of the vote to finish ahead of Scotland's Grand Slam win over England in 1990, on 42.8%, and the record crowd of more than 130,000 that saw Scotland beat Wales in 1975.
