'Desperate John' ribbed over school bans claim

JOHN SWINNEY was branded “desperate” after he defended the SNP’s policy of ensuring school exclusions are a “last resort” for teachers.

The First Minister claimed pupils could be driven into the arms of organised crime gangs, as they would be left to roam the streets.

The SNP leader was slated over the Scottish Government's new guidance for teachers in response to growing levels of classroom violence.

It has been mocked as it includes using eye contact and hand signals to address disruption.
