Delay in Rangers malicious arrests probe a 'cover-up'

THE delay in setting up an inquiry into the Rangers malicious prosecution case has been branded a “cover-up” by one of those wrongfully arrested.

Former First Minister Nicola Sturgeon agreed to launch a judge-led probe into the actions of the Crown Office and Police Scotland back in 2021.

Judges described part of the original investigation as an “abuse of state power.”

have received apologies and substantial compensation, with the payouts and legal fees costing taxpayers more than £60million.

Former Rangers finance chief Imran Ahmad won £600,000, 15 months ago, in the final civil action to conclude.

The Crown Office said it had to wait until this had happened before an inquiry could begin.
