Civil war breaks out as PM told to resign

LABOUR'S civil war reignited yesterday as the Gorton and Denton defeat sparked fresh calls for Keir Starmer to quit.

One backbencher said the PM had betrayed his party's values.

Others predicted a challenge unless radical changes are made before May's local elections.

Angela Rayner, Labour's former deputy leader, stuck the knife in as she insisted voters wanted “change”.

Sir Keir fought off an attempted coup earlier this month, when Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar demanded his resignation, but other party figures refused to follow suit.
