A MOTORCYCLIST has become the fourth biker to die on Scotland's roads in the past week.

- Richard Elias

The horrifying statistic comes as a nationwide safety campaign for bikers has been launched.

The latest victim of the carnage was killed on Tuesday afternoon in Aberdeenshire.

The 35-year-old man, who had not been named by last night, was riding a Triumph when it was in collision with two other vehicles - a Seat Ibiza car and a Citroen Berlingo van.

It happened on the A980 at Banchory just after 2pm. The people in the other vehicles were not injured.

Sergeant Alexander Bowser-Riley of Police Scotland said: "Our thoughts are with the family of the man who died and our inquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.
