Captain hopes his stunning winning strike can help rebuild bridges at fractured Parkhead
CALLUM McGREGOR hopes his Paisley wonder goal can be the catalyst for unity across Celtic.
And the captain has urged his teammates to keep swinging and dispel an outside narrative of “vulnerability” around the defending champions.
McGregor accepts it's a difficult period with Champions League failure and the upheaval of Brendan Rodgers’ departure, as well as acrimony between fans and the club hierarchy.
Chants of “Sack the Board” have filled the air recently and the standoff plumbed new depths last week with the abandonment of an AGM amid chaotic scenes.
McGregor is aware of the situation and the feelings around the club.
But, having scored Saturday's late winner at St Mirren to set the squad up for Thursday's Europa League clash against Feyenoord, the midfielder’s message and wish for togetherness is crystal clear to overcome the tough period.
McGregor said: “We just need to keep going.
“There's been a lot of negativity, change and disruption. This club is better when everyone is together.
“Our job on the pitch is to win games and give the supporters a team they can be proud of.
