Boss Bren says sorry for defeat
March 18, 2025
|Scottish Daily Express
BRENDAN RODGERS has apologised to the Celtic supporters for their Old Firm derby humbling.
The Hoops are reeling from a first home loss to Glasgow rivals Rangers since 2020 after going down 3-2 at Parkhead on Sunday.
Despite the setback, Celtic are 13 points clear at the top of the league and on course to retain their title, while a Scottish Cup semi-final against St Johnstone is looming next month.
And manager Rodgers, above, has ordered his team to sharpen up and make sure they close out the campaign with a flourish as they bid to complete a domestic treble.
He said: "Firstly, the message to the supporters is, we apologise because we always want to win games here and against our big rivals, so, for them, it's not a great feeling.
"Our message to the players is, we have to be much better. That's what we spoke about afterwards.
"In every facet of the game we have to be much better and if you're going to be a champion this year, you've got to go and show that you're a champion and you've got to earn it.
"So there are eight games to go, with 13 points (advantage), but we've got a lot of big games to play."
