ASKOU: I WILL BE HERE FOR AS LONG AS WELL WANT ME

JENS Berthel Askou is determined to put down long-term roots at Motherwell - remarkably the ninth club of the 42-year-old’s coaching career.

His nomadic journey has spanned stints at Skive, Thisted, Vendsyssel, Horsens and Copenhagen in his homeland, HB Torshavn in the Faroe Islands, IFK Gothenburg in Sweden and Sparta Prague in the Czech Republic.

Having been No.2 at his last two clubs - Sparta and Copenhagen - Askou is relishing being the main man again at Fir Park.

He said: “I knew that when the right moment arrived I wanted to become a manager again. I had to take it and now is the time.

“So, I have no plans to go anywhere for as long as the club wants me.

“I’m very excited to be here because I feel I’ve found a place where I'll thrive really well as a person and as a football manager.

“I need to stick with it in order to find out how far we can take it.”
