Five trainers tell Melissa Jones their best runners of the week

A GOOD PLAN

KARL BURKE A £360,000 purchase, Naval Light is ready for his third career outing in the British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes on Tuesday.

Burke has had significantly more winners from his two-year-olds than any other age group in the past five years and this Havana Grey colt holds an entry in the top tier Phoenix Stakes next month.

“I think he is a Group horse in the making,” said Burke. “He had to run over five furlongs at Royal Ascot in the Norfolk Stakes (eighth) and I expect him to improve going up to six.”

Bright Thunder is going the other way in distance after she scooted clear in a Listed race at Deauville.

“She’s in the Group Three Oak Tree Stakes and the trip will be no problem,” said the handler, who hopes Night Raider can keep enough reserves for the finish of Friday’s Group Two King George Qatar Stakes.

“He is a good horse and has to relax in the preliminaries to give himself a chance.”

HARRY EUSTACE Into the top ten of British flat trainers thanks to double-figure strikes by Docklands in the Queen Anne Stakes and Commonwealth Cup speedball Time For Sandals.
