Across history and within our personal lives, yesterday has a grip on our hearts. It whispers memories of joy, echoes of pain, and flashes of lessons that shaped us. But what about yesterday? Why do we spend so much time revisiting it, mourning it, or romanticizing it?

The truth is, yesterday matters. In fact, it matters more than we often realize. But it matters not because we're meant to live there but because we're meant to learn from it.

Throughout history, people have clung to "the good old days." It's a common thread in conversations across generations how things "used to be." And for some, yesterday truly was a beautiful time. A simpler time. A season of laughter, family, and memories that still warm the heart. But for many others, yesterday was filled with hardship, oppression, and struggle.

Think about the millions who lived through the Great Depression, when food was scarce and hope even scarcer. Think of the African Americans who bore the weight of slavery, segregation, and systemic racism. Think of those who endured the horrors of the Holocaust, whose very survival became a miracle. Think of Indigenous peoples across the globe who lost their lands, cultures, and lives to colonization. Yesterday wasn't kind to everyone. And yet here we are.
