Councilmember Jeffery Young Jr. & SELF Inc. celebrate families with a day at the Philadelphia Zoo

Councilmember Jeffery Young Jr. joined SELF Inc. to host the SELF + Cooperative Families event at the Philadelphia Zoo, celebrating resilience, family connections, and the strength of community partnerships.

Dozens of families gathered at the Zoo's main entrance, where Councilmember Young, SELF Inc. CEO Dr. Shirlana Dash, and a representative from the Philadelphia Zoo Community Access Program officially welcomed them. After the introductions, families set off to explore the exhibits and enjoy a full day of activities.

"This event is about more than just a trip to the Zoo; it's about showing our families that they are valued and supported and that they are part of a community that stands with them," said Councilmember Young. "By partnering with SELF Inc., we can create joyful moments that remind our children and parents what they are working so hard for: stability, opportunity, and a brighter future."
