No property lease for Matlala: minister

THE Department of Public Works and Infrastructure has confirmed that it has not leased any property directly to attempted murder accused tenderpreneur Vusumuzi “Cat” Matlala.

Instead, a lease agreement concluded with Medicare 24 Tshwane District, a company where Matlala is listed as a director, has since been terminated.

This was disclosed by Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Dean Macpherson in response to parliamentary questions.

This comes after a series of parliamentary questions from ActionSA MP Malebo Patricia Kobe, who initially posed inquiries to the minister back in November 2025 and received no response.

Kobe sought clarity on whether any properties had been leased to Matlala and requested details of such agreements.

“The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure has not leased any property to Mr Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala in his personal capacity,” said Macpherson.

However, a lease for a health care facility building at the Pretoria West SAPS Training Academy was indeed agreed upon with Medicare24 Tshwane District.
