MI Cape Town enters the season with confidence as defending champions
December 20, 2025
|Saturday Star
MI Cape Town batter Rassie van der Dussen says they are going into the season with a weight lifted off their shoulders having won the competition last season.
MI Cape Town are heading into the season as defending champions, having beat Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the final at the Wanderers in Johannesburg last season.
One would assume that the side would head into the upcoming season with added pressure to defend their title, however, Van der Dussen believes they have very little pressure going into the season.
In fact, the 36-year-old told Independent Media that they actually felt more pressure in seasons one, two and three, as they finished last place in the opening two seasons, despite having a strong squad.
“I think we actually play with little bit less pressure having won last year,” Van der Dussen said.
