A big-hearted and "inspirational" Cambuslang youngster has been recognised as one of Scotland's top first aid heroes for his impressive work to install vital defibrillators in his home area.
Twelve-year-old Riley Williamson raised more than £2000 through his Heart of the Community appeal to buy one of the lifesaving devices for his former school - and is continuing his project by aiming to place another at his new secondary school.
He received the chairman's award, pictured, right, at the prestigious annual awards run by dedicated charity
I'm so proud that my school have understood the importance of this. I'm chuffed to have won this award

St Andrew's First Aid; and said: "I just wanted to do something that could really make a difference."
Riley was inspired by learning basic first aid and life support skills two years ago while a pupil at Hallside Primary, and then approached his head teacher with the idea of installing a defibrillator at the school in Halfway.
He launched the Heart of the Community appeal and began raising funds with his collection bucket, as well as addressing school assemblies, speaking at parent council meetings and enlisting the school choir to boost his fundraising through their Christmas performances.
