Clyde tribute to ex-boss and Lisbon Lion Clark

Clyde have paid tribute to former boss John Clark after the former Celtic hero and Lisbon Lion passed away, aged 84.

Although widely known for his park in Jock Stein's side who became the first British team to win the European Cup by defeating Inter Milan in Lison in 1967, Clark spent six years in charge of the Bully Wee when he stepped in to management after hanging up his boots.

He also managed at Cowdenbeath, Stranraer, Clyde and junior side Shotts Bon Accord before returning to Celtic in 1997 as kit controller.

Aside from that historic Lisbon win, Clark - who hailed from Chapelhall - won three league championships, three Scottish Cups and four League Cups at Celtic.

Clark's death was announced by Celticon Monday and a statement from Clyde read: “All at the club are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our former manager John Clark.
