BRENDAN MISKELLA
-
MAKE way everyone, the Boro Bus is coming and all the teams are running.
For the last three games read: 36 points for, one against, just six wickets lost and all 30 taken, one maiden, five for, and one overdue maiden century as Littleborough march into fourth.
And all that just three days after marching into a T20 finals day for the second time in three years!
They completely dominated second-placed Clitheroe, who must be sick of the sight of Hare Hill after crashing out of the T20 competition just three days earlier.
Hare Hill was looking as glorious as ever and the Lancashire League must be delighted that T20 finals day is being hosted by the best ground in the league bar none.
Visiting captain Charlie Dewhurst won the toss and chose to bat. It was 163 before the first wicket fell, so he may have regretted his decision.
Take a bow Dan Stevens and Zac Perren, who have made useful contributions separately this season but not at the same time.
Today they both batted brilliantly and both deserved a century, yet only one of them managed to get there.
They effortlessly took the score to 97 at the halfway stage as the visiting bowlers all put the effort in but didn't really threaten. They brought the 150 up with 15 overs left as Dewhurst quite surprisingly still set attacking fields.
They eventually got the breakthrough when perhaps a lapse in concentration saw Stevens chip a caught and bowled chance back to young Coby Campbell with the score on 163.
