LAST week was a bit like the old bus proverb, in this case with no races none and then, all of a sudden, they all came at once!

Club's X-country heroes rewarded

But before we get into the racing, another impor-tant event took place - the Harriers Cross Country presentation, which was held in conjunction with a social bowling evening with 26 Harriers attending the event.

Awards were presented to each category winner for juniors, ladies and mens races. In addition, three special awards were also given, one each for the junior, female and male categories, titled the Endeavour awards.

These awards are in rec-ognition of members hav-ing achieved something special for the Harriers, or in their own right as a member.

In the Juniors the awards were as follows: 1st U11 Boy, Finlay Duck-worh, U13 Girl Lily Hirst, U15 Boy, Ben Hadfield and U15 Girl, Lottie Pea-cock.

The Ladies awards were as follows: 1st Lady and Vet45, Julie Smith, 2nd Lady, Zara Hirst, 3rd Lady and 1st Vet50, Susie Hirst, 4th Lady Danielle Dignan.

The men's awards were as follows: 1st overall and Vet35, Jonny Lawlor, 2nd male and Vet40, Michael Jackson, along with Pete Butterworth Vet 50. The Vet45 category was won by Chris Gee, whilst 1st Vet55 was Neil Hirst, Neil Eaton was the winner of the Vet60 category, with the "ever young" Ian Aitchison winning the Vet65 category.

The Vet70 winner was Ian Holloway. So a very big congratulations to all the winners.

The Junior Endeavour award went to Ben Had-field, who in his first sea-son has shown he can compete against athletes many years his senior.
