DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE AND CRUSHED LOVING FATHER MICHAEL

- By RUCSANDRA MOLDOVEANU

THE family of a “loving father” who was crushed in a tragic incident at a Nottinghamshire truck stop have paid tribute to him.

Michael Godfrey was at the Pearl Truck stop near Blyth, taking a break, on January 11, 2024.

The 61-year-old, known as Mick, was resting when fellow lorry driver Alisher Jumanov approached the locked rear gates after driving in error down Long Brecks Lane towards the Al.

Jumanov climbed over the gates and asked for help when he realised he was unable to turn around, also being anxious about running out of hours on his driving-time monitor.

Mr Godfrey then unlocked the gates, wishing to help Jumanov, and moved his lorry out of the way so that the other driver could pass through and rest.

He and another man then helped to guide him through the narrow gap and over several concrete sleepers on the ground.
