Former Indian Ambassador to the United States, Advisor to the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum, Chairman of the Geopolitical Institute, and founder of the Viksit Amritsar initiative, Sardar Taranjit Singh Sandhu, addressed a solemn memorial ceremony today, commemorating the death anniversary of Shaheed Sardar Teja Singh Samundri — a founding leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal and a key architect of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).
Speaking at the event held at Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa Educational Institutions, originally established by Sardar Teja Singh Samundri in 1917 in Sarhali, Sandhu emphasized that investment in education (particularly at the nursery level) and youth empowerment is the need of the hour. This was not merely a remembrance event, but a deeply moving and inspirational moment rooted in history, emotion, and national pride. The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Sri Sukhmani Sahib, followed by Gurbani Kirtan performed by students. Heartfelt speeches were then delivered highlighting the life and legacy of Sardar Teja Singh Samundri.
