SAHDS rejects monopolistic control of Hindu priest immigration

WHILE the South African Hindu Dharma Sabha (SAHDS ) supports the objective of orderly immigration administration, we have requested the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) to decline formal recognition of the South African Hindu Maha Sabha (SAHMS) as the exclusive vetting, validation and oversight authority in respect of foreign priests.

The overreaching proposal cited above is patently unconstitutional, objectionable, undemocratic and unacceptable to the vast majority of Hindus.

In the best interests of collective Hindu advancement, the SAHMS cannot masquerade as the sole, supremist, holier-than-thou gatekeeper of Hindus. Shared goals can only be achieved through shared values, roles and responsibilities.

The SAHMS cannot claim to represent all, or even the majority, of Hindus.
