Poor service at Phoenix Sassa office

I AM WRITING to express my deep frustration and concern regarding the poor service and disorganisation at the Sassa offices, particularly in relation to how Phoenix residents are being treated.

I have experienced first-hand the treatment of my elderly father and others.

I recently took my dad to the Phoenix Sassa office.

It took about five visits on different days to finalise the application, yet on the very first visit I had all the necessary documents ready in a pack.

I had to take leave from work on five occasions to pick up my dad. There is no system in place to serve the elders on a first-come, first-served basis. During one of the visits, my dad said it was announced that elders from Cornubia, Verulam and Tongaat should go forward as they would be attended to first.

So they basically waited the entire day hoping that the elders from other towns would be attended to first, and the Phoenix residents thereafter.
