THIS title is a bit of a misnomer, as the original Kesari was based on the true story of a Sikh regiment led by soldier Ishar Singh (Akshay Kumar), who valiantly sacrificed their lives defending British India against hundreds of Afghan tribesmen.

Kumar returns in Kesari 2, but as lawyer Sankaran Nair, a lackey of the British colonial rulers in India, who initially defends British general Reginald Dwyer, initiator of the infamous massacre of scores of innocent protesting Sikhs at Jallianwala Bagh in 1919.
Nair also gets a Punjabi freedom fighter leader sent to prison by proving that the academic and poet is a violent revolutionary.
Nair even gets knighted by the British for his services and is granted entry into the elite Viceroy’s Council.
