A college is celebrating after one of its students has been shortlisted for a prestigious national student of the year award.

- by News Reporter

Mackenzie Bird - who studied A Levels in law, politics and classics at Havant and South Downs College - is one of just three students shortlisted for the Young Student of the Year Award organised by the Association of Colleges.

It's a prestigious award aimed at students aged 16-18 - with Mackenzie being nominated by Havant and South Downs College (HSDC) staff as a result of her achievements outside of the classroom.

Mackenzie, who went to Priory School, studied at the Havant Campus.

The nomination marks an inspiring journey, with Mackenzie praised by staff as a “true testament to the power of resilience”.
