Controversial councillor is 'appealing tribunal verdicts'

The Portsmouth Reform UK leader Cllr George Madgwick has responded to tribunal rulings ordering his past businesses to pay £4,386 to former employees.

Recent findings from The Bureau of Investigative Journalism have revealed two employment tribunal rulings linked to companies previously run by Paulsgrove ward councillor and Reform UK group leader George Madgwick.

Cllr Madgwick told the TBIJ he is disputing the outcomes and later wrote on social media that he has begun legal steps to “set aside both judgments”.

He says the rulings - both in June 2023 - were issued without his knowledge.
