Following the provincial R95.8b budget for 2026/27, that was tabled in the Legislature last Tuesday, Provincial Treasury and Standard Bank hosted a gala dinner at Fusion Boutique Hotel on Friday evening, bringing together stakeholders from government, the business sector, academia, traditional leadership and faith-based organisations.

The highlight of the event was a presentation by the Premier, Dr Phophi Ramathuba which focused on infrastructure development as a driver of economic growth.

"Infrastructure remains one of the most powerful catalysts for economic transformation. Roads connect markets. Energy powers industries. Water sustains agriculture and manufacturing. Digital connectivity opens doors to innovation," she said.

The premier stressed that government and the business community should confront an economic reality that economists often refer to as jobless growth.
