Labour retains seat in election

Julie Ann Costello McHale has been elected as the new representative for the Barrhead, Liboside and Uplawmoor ward on East Renfrewshire Council.

Her win means Labour holds on to a seat which had been vacated as a result of the death of long-serving councillor Betty Cunningham.
Cllr Costello McHale picked up the most first preference votes (1,901), ahead of the SNP’s David McDonald (1,142) and Reform’s Andy MacGibbon (1,018).
