build a new school for Thorn Primary a manifesto commitment from the SNP.

The document sets out a series of options to address capacity issues at schools and the poor condition of buildings at Thorn, St Margaret's and Auchenlodment primary schools.

Stating a new-build school or retrofit for each campus would not represent value for money, council bosses now say they want to make better use of capacity in the other primary schools in the town.

If agreed, it would see catchment areas redrawn to make better use of spaces available at St Anthony's, West Johnstone Joint Campus, and Fordbank.

A new-build campus would also likely accommodate two schools, officers have said. But there is no commitment that Thorn Primary will be accommodated within that new campus in these proposals despite having previously been promised a new-build school by the SNP administration.
