Former village hall gets green light for five-bed home conversion

Plans to convert Houston Village Hall into a five-bedroom house have been given the go ahead by Renfrewshire Council.
A bid for planning permission for the Main Street building - lodged on behalf of an applicant by Bruach Architects - has been granted, subject to conditions.
The decision means the two-storey traditional sandstone property from the late 19th century will be transformed into a private residential dwelling.
A report of handling by the council said: “This application seeks planning permission for the change of use of a village hall (class 11) to a dwellinghouse (class 9) at Houston Village Hall, Main Street, Houston.
“The proposed development would result in a five-bedroom detached dwellinghouse.
“External alterations would be minimal and mainly comprise of the installation of four sash and case windows at upper floor level of the side (north) elevation and four rooflights on the north roof plane.
