Councillor fears project won't open on time

A councillor has said he doesn’t have “any confidence” Paisley Museum will be unveiled next year after the transformation project's timeline was pushed back again.

It was announced last week construction is now expected to be complete by the end of this year, with its reopening projected for the second half of 2026.

It is hoped the £65 million redevelopment - which has been troubled by multiple delays - will create a world-class visitor destination in the heart of the town.

But Renfrewshire Council and OneRen have said the job has been “extremely complex” and a number of “unforeseen issues” have cropped up along the way.

That hasn't washed with Councillor Eddie Devine, however, and the Paisley Southeast politician has questioned the handling of the major refurbishment.
