Controversial cuts plans to be revisited by HSCP bosses

Controversial cost-cutting proposals that would impact some of the area’s most vulnerable are set to be “revisited” at some point in the future.

Decision-makers were deadlocked on eight measures drafted to help close a budget gap facing Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) in September. But it was agreed at Friday’s integration joint board (IJB), which oversees the HSCP, the ideas should be reconsidered alongside other options under development.

“Possible revisions” could be made “where appropriate” according to a report discussed at the meeting but it is not yet known the exact shape they will take.

Councillor Iain McMillan, a member of the IJB, asked: “Without going into the full details - I know we'll be getting further information on these eight proposals - but do we envisage much change to them or will they just come back in exactly the same form?”

Frances Burns, head of strategic planning and health improvement, responded: “In terms of the eight proposals...we've not yet revisited those.
