Communities must unite over attack

Across our communities, we will have been shocked by the terrible attack that happened outside a synagogue in Manchester on Thursday.

Life was taken quickly and brutally in a place of sanctuary on the holiest day in Judaism.

I know that Jewish people across the country will be experiencing great pain and distress at this time and my thoughts and prayers are with you.

I know that Jewish organisations are already be engaging with the relevant services and agencies to ensure the safety and security of Jewish people across Scotland.

I want to offer my support and the reassurance to our Jewish community that your safety and security is paramount, and I have engaged with Police Scotland and other relevant agencies on these matters.
