CCTV should be installed in Renfrewshire parks as a "matter of urgency" after a woman was raped.

- EDEL KENEALY

That's the message from West Scotland MSP Neil Bibby following last month's harrowing attack in Paisley.

Mr Bibby has called on Renfrewshire Council to heed his repeated requests for CCTV in public parks following the serious sexual assault on November 16.

The woman was walking through Brodie Park around 4.30am when she was attacked by a stranger.

Mr Bibby says this is the latest in a long line of concerning incidents to take place in public parks.

The Paisley-based MSP first requested CCTV be installed in Barshaw Park in the summer of 2024 - arguing locals had raised concerns about safety.

He repeated his call in the spring following reports that unidentified men had filmed children in the park.

Police called for private CCTV and dash-cam footage relating to this case and issued a similar appeal for the Brodie Park incident.
