THE mum of a former prison officer who was killed outside a gym has revealed that threats an inmate made to her son were “the first thing” she thought of after hearing he was dead.

Lenny Scott, 33, was shot six times to the head and body as he left the gym on Peel Road in Skelmersdale on February 8, 2024.

The gunman then made off on an electric motorbike, dressed in a hi-vis jacket.

Elias Morgan is accused of shooting the dad-of-three in an “act of retaliation” after Mr Scott found a mobile phone in Morgan’s cell and exposed an illicit relationship involving the inmate and a female officer at HMP Altcourse. Morgan initially offered to pay Lenny to ‘lose’ the phone and ‘balls up the paperwork’ but when he was undeterred, Morgan threatened Lenny and his family, a court heard this week.

Morgan and co-defendant Anthony Cleary, 29, who are both from Liverpool, both deny murder.

A trial started at Preston Crown Court on Tuesday, June 24.
