Strongly condemning the brutal murder of senior advocate and BJP leader Pitabas Panda in Ganjam Monday, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi Tuesday directed the police administration to identify and apprehend the culprits and ensure that they get exemplary punishment.

The CM also extended his heartfelt condolences to Panda’s bereaved family. “Odisha is a peaceful state and such heinous acts will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” Majhi said, directing the police to identify and arrest the assailants, and ensure that they get exemplary punishment.

Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition (LoP) Naveen Patnaik sharply criticised the BJP government for its failure to maintain law and order in the state, alleging that a cloud of fear has veiled the people of Odisha.

In a post on X, Patnaik said, “At a time when the state should be celebrating the festive season with joy, an atmosphere of fear prevails. People are beginning to feel insecure.”

Referring to the murder of senior advocate and BJP leader Pitabas Panda in Ganjam, Patnaik said, “The brutal killing of a senior lawyer in front of his house is extremely shocking and tragic.” He also extended his condolences to the bereaved family.
