Weekly near-misses on 'death trap' crossing

NOW CITY COUNCIL PROMISES TO FIX IT 'AS SOON AS POSSIBLE'

THE city council has promised to repaint a “death trap” zebra crossing.

Pedestrians who regularly use the crossing in Bath Street, Sneinton, said they have almost weekly near-misses due to motorists not stopping at the faded junction.

Paul Miller, 49, said he was hit at a slow speed by a Tesla driver just a few days ago.

“It’s been getting worse and I don’t know why,” he said. “At rush hour it’s a nightmare. I just don’t want someone to get hurt or killed on it. It’s a death trap.”

Nottingham City Council said a recent safety inspection found the road markings along the entire length of Bath Street needed to be “refreshed” and the work would take place “as soon as possible”.
