Walk in progress as mayor creates new tourist route

IF you have pottered around the Peak District in the past two months, you might have noticed a lady in a red blazer on some of the region's most popular walking routes.

At the start of June, the mayor of the East Midlands, Claire Ward, set off on a challenge that, in stages, will take her the best part of a year to complete.

She is walking 150 miles on a circular route between Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire which she hopes to popularise as an official circuit known as The Loop.
