Uproar over 'completely stupid' bins plan at flats

RESIDENTS OF CITY'S TALLEST BUILDING AREN'T HAPPY
RESIDENTS of a Nottingham's tallest building have described changes to bulky waste collections as “completely stupid”.
Nottingham City Council has denied them access to a basement area where they usually dispose of large waste due to supposed health and safety risks at Victoria Centre flats.
Instead, they will have to make an appointment with caretakers to dispose of larger pieces of rubbish, on a biweekly as part of a new pilot.
Simon Brindley, a long-term resident, said the plans were “impossible”.
“We have to contact the caretakers and make arrangements for them to go with you. The whole thing is a completely stupid idea,” said the 64-year-old.
“There are only four or five caretakers for the whole building, so they're pretty hard stretched.
“How this will be made to work I don't understand. There are 460 flats - there are going to be bulky items on a daily basis.
“Will they get time to go back and forth? What about when people are moving out and in?”
