Tree surgeon who gets the call when hurricanes strike

WILL Clifford has seen homes blown to smithereens and children left without any clothes on their backs as the result of natural disasters.

The tree surgeon from Keyworth had been working in the trade for more than 20 years when he decided to use his skills to make a positive influence in the world.

He recently started working with the DART International UK charity, made up of a team of fellow tree surgeons and volunteers who travel to disaster zones around the world and help clear dangerous trees.

This means they can reopen areas so emergency teams and families can go where they would otherwise not be able to because of the level of equipment and expertise needed to cut down the trees.

It also means that schools which have been forced to close because of fallen trees can be rebuilt, enabling the children to return to classes. For Will, who got involved after travelling and wanting to "do some good", the change he has seen first-hand has been incredible.
