MARTIN Paterson was pleased to see Notts County come through what he believes will be a tougher fixture for League Two teams in the second half of the season.

After his side beat Crawley Town 2-1 away from home at the weekend, picking up their first points of the new year following an extended break from action, the Magpies head coach was keen to explain the challenge a new-look Scott Lindsey side presented.

The Magpies had to bide their time in getting their noses in front following a topsy-turvy first half, with a moment of individual quality from Jodi Jones breaking the deadlock.
