Tenants living in flats given just two months to move out

DOZENS RECEIVE EVICTION NOTICES FROM NEW LANDLORD SO REPAIRS CAN BE MADE
RESIDENTS of flats in Sherwood have been left in limbo after their new landlord served them no-fault eviction notices.
As many as 45 tenants were stunned when eviction warnings and notices started to come through their letterboxes in May.
The flats they have been living in - split between three large properties called Warwick Towers, Warwick Mount and Warwick House in Mansfield Road - were bought in March and the letters have indicated the buildings are in a state of disrepair and tenants need to leave so the repairs can be carried out.
The evictions were staggered, with each building first receiving warnings and then notices of their evictions around two weeks after each other. The residents were given two months' notice to leave, and some chose to move out after the initial letter.
Residents claim that the notices are "unfair" and will force working people, who have lived at the properties for decades, out of their homes.
Gyles Fitzgerald Rogers, 57, who has lived in Warwick Towers for the past 11 years, vowed to fight against the eviction in the hope of an extension.
Gyles, who has chronic kidney disease and struggles with his mobility, said the location of the property was perfect for him to access City Hospital. He said: "They started sending all these letters, they are threatening letters, everyone in that house is scared. Two months' notice is impossible for me.
"The one and only time the landlord came down to see me, he saw all my equipment and saw how bad of a state my flat was in. Now, whether I'm leaving or not, they should fix the problems there.
